Sacraments of Initiation
I hope this letter finds you and your families safe and healthy. I would like to address some concerns of those who were preparing to receive one or more of the sacraments of initiation (baptism, confirmation, & eucharist) at Easter or at the Cathedral with the Bishop.
Since we will not be celebrating the Easter Vigil publically this year, we will celebrate the sacraments of initiation at Pentecost. We will celebrate an extended Vigil of Pentecost at St. Joseph on Friday, May 29 at 6 PM. For those of you in Stratford, you will receive your sacraments at this mass.
At Our Lady of Guadalupe, we will celebrate the Vigil of Pentecost on May 30 at the regular 5:30 PM mass. Those of you in Cactus will receive your Sacraments at this mass.
Those of you who were preparing for Adult Confirmation, the retreat has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 23, 10 AM at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Amarillo. You will receive the sacrament of confirmation at mass on May 30, 10 AM at the cathedral.
I believe you are all well prepared to receive the sacraments so I do not see the need for additional classes. However, I would like to have one more meeting to discuss the sacrament of reconciliation and to have a “practice” confession. We will meet for this purpose on May 12 at 7 PM in Stratford and May 16 at 7:30 PM in Cactus.
If you are not able to attend these dates, please contact me as soon as possible. If I do not hear from you, I will assume that you have read and understand this letter.
As always, these dates are subject to change based on public health recommendations.
It is your responsibility to check the parish websites periodically for more information and updates.
